squatters don't pay rent.
they leave the space like rock stars leave hotel rooms.
despite the untethering that occurs once we cut the power and they exit the efficiency apartment, the connection a mother feels to her formal occupants is eternal.
every time we button our mom jeans over the stretch marks and realize that we're keeping spandex in business, it's a reminder of our respective journeys.
the "imperfections" are expressions of the gifts we received. the scars are the security deposit that we're fortunate enough to keep.
this series is an illustration of this connection and preserving the sanctity of the aftermath.
celebrating the squatters we love and the spaces they occupied.
